Today Bigfoot Networks has finally begun to ship their Killer Network Interface Card. The card is currently available for a retail price of $279.99.
The Killer NIC is being touted by Bigfoot Networks as an essential card to any hardcore online gamer. They claim that the card will give users unprecedented performance and an edge over other gamers by reducing latency and lag. The card is claimed to greatly increase speed and performance online. The Killer NIC, in addition, also allows for users to run applications on the card’s Networking Processing Unit.

The Killer NIC comes with a 400MHz Networking Processing Unit and runs an optimized version of embedded Linux. It comes with 64MB DDR Memory and uses the 32 Bit PCI 2.2 bus.
At $280, the KillerNIC’s price for a new add-in card is rather steep. Bigfoot Networks is similar to AGEIA; a company which just a few months back launched their own new add-in card the PhysX PPU into a lukewarm market.
