This week NVIDIA has released the 7950 GT video card, which is meant to take the place of the older 7900 GT. The new video card is based on the G71 graphics processor and supposedly offers significantly better performance than its predecessor. Despite the increase in performance, the card is facing some fierce competition. The 7950 GT is being pitted up against ATI’s X1900 XT 256MB, which is also going on sale today. Even though the X1900 XT has only half the memory of the 7950 GT, it is based on the powerful R580 GPU that comes with an intimidating 48 pixel shader processors.
